What Keeps Us Grounded While We Grow?

After a recent conversation with a beloved friend who is deep in her spiritual work, I found myself reflecting on something I think many of us who walk an intentional path wrestle with:
How do we stay grounded as we evolve to higher levels of consciousness?
How do we keep our feet on the earth while reaching for the stars?
My friend speaks with a kind of poetic, elevated clarity that feels just on the edge of my understanding—like she's tapped into something vast and luminous. And maybe… maybe she has. Or maybe it’s just really hard to describe deep spiritual insight using everyday language. Either way, I walked away from our time together not with judgment or concern, but with curiosity—about how we each navigate the space between presence and transcendence, expansion and embodiment.
It brought me back to my own practice. I’ve also experienced those moments of profound insight—times when it feels like the veil between worlds gets thinner. But I’ve learned, especially over the years, that no matter how high we go, what truly matters is what we bring back.
To be a bridge between realms, not a balloon floating away.
What keeps me

while I expand & elevate?
Here are a few things to practice -
1. Both/And, Not Either/Or
I’m learning that spiritual growth doesn’t mean abandoning the human experience. It means inhabiting it more fully. I can pursue deep wisdom and still wash the dishes. I can meditate and still feel sadness. I can believe in miracles and still honor the messiness of daily life.
2. Staying in the Body
When spiritual work takes me far out into the imaginal or energetic realms, I’ve found it essential to come home to my body. Grounding through nature, movement, and breath isn’t just a wellness habit—it’s a sacred ritual that keeps me connected to the here and now.
3. Honoring Mortality and Mystery
Sometimes, what feels like a desire to ascend might actually be a response to the ache of mortality or the discomfort of not having all the answers. And that’s okay. I try to hold both—my longing for deeper truth and my deep respect for this fragile, fleeting life.
4. Noticing the Language
When I find myself using only abstract or lofty language, it’s usually a clue that I need to slow down and integrate. The real breakthroughs in my own journey come not just from “downloads” but from how I live, love, and show up with others.
A Reflection I’m Holding
Where am I being called to expand—and where am I being invited to land more fully in myself?
This inquiry feels especially alive for me right now. I’m not seeking perfect balance. I’m seeking alignment. The kind that lets me access wisdom and walk through the world with my eyes open, heart soft, and feet bare on the ground.
The truth is, we all interpret and express spiritual growth differently. And maybe that’s the beauty of it. But for me, I’m called to do the higher-level work without losing touch with what’s real. The work is sacred. And so is this moment.
With curiosity and rooted grace,
