election day - belief in the power of us

We voted early this year.

For years I’ve written and taught about listening, about what changes when people feel heard. An election is the day a whole community gets heard at once. Each of us brings our own reasons and our own hopes, and we add them up together.

I believe in the power of a single vote. I also truly believe in what happens when we show up side by side, neighbors who agree on some things and disagree on plenty, all taking part in the same act on the same day. When we work together, we are powerful.

If you can, vote in person today. Invite a friend, a coworker, or a neighbor to come with you. If your ballot is in the mail or the drop box, thank you, and consider walking with someone who hasn’t voted yet. Your county elections office or vote.gov can show you where your polling place is.

Here is a resource to check on where your polling place can be found.

What makes you hopeful?
