writing by the river in big sur
I volunteered in the kitchen at Esalen for a few hours, then spent the rest of the day at one of my happiest places on earth — a place I've been returning to for thirty years.
Besides bathing in the heavenly hot water, I also read and wrote poetry next to the river with Allison Goldsmith who hosted “Writing by the River” in which we read these poems aloud: Nebi by Cheryl Savageau and At the River Clarion, by Mary Oliver.
We were then invited to find a spot to sit by the river and write.
These just flowed from my soul.
